Ze's 100th
the show with zefrank
Sorry, Donut Report, I've been too busy to post here. But here's Ze's 100th show...he tickled me with his childhood memories...
No, not that one...another one. Who knew there was an under-read, Jane Austen-type author stuck with the same name as the actress? Feature article in today's San Francisco Chronicle is here. Her books are apparently hard to find. But lucky for us, some of them are being adapted to film.
I'm always looking to travel on the cheap. If you are, too, you might want to check out the travel sites that appeared in Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel column in yesterday's San Francisco Chronicle here.

So I saw this profile on the Portland Tribune site about Kaitlin Olson, an actress who's from a Portland suburb. I didn't know her by name, but was familiar with her work as Cheryl's sister on HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm. She's a regular on F/X's sitcom, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I'd heard of the show, but hadn't seen it...until last night. Caught reruns of season 2's first two episodes last night. It's pretty twisted. That's a compliment. Tim Goodman, the TV critic for the San Francisco Chronicle agrees.
Leave it to blogging/social networking pioneer, Heather Powazek Champ. She's done it again. This is, well, genius. And I loved this post at This Boy Is Toast.
Did anyone catch the BET Awards this week (Wednesday, I think)? It aired again last night, but I missed it. If you didn't see the show, catch yet another re-broadcast on July 4th at 8 pm (Eastern and Pacific). About two hours in, there's a tribute to Chaka Khan...with Prince AND Stevie Wonder performing together. They do several songs and it's happenin'.
I love Kathy Griffin. She has the balls to say what we're all thinking about celebrities. I'm hooked on her My Life on the D-List series on Bravo. And her parents are (unintentionally) hilarious. But her show doesn't mock them--they're just delightful, naturally colorful characters.

Leave it to Bill Moyers. He's back with a new series on PBS, Faith and Reason. Click on the link in the right sidebar, "Bill Moyers on the series" to get an idea of the tone. I love that he's not interviewing the Jerry Falwells and Pat Robertsons of the world for this series--he's talking to writers. I missed the first episode with Salman Rushdie--did any of you catch it? I look forward to hearing what these "novelists, essayists and poets" have to say on this very important subject.
Am I the last to know that some authors have taken up giving readings in casinos?! I suppose it makes sense, in a perverse sort of way. I'm all for anything that encourages people to read and buy books...I think...
When will the mannequin industry start making models that look like real women?
Did anyone catch the first episode of "House of Boateng" on Sundance Channel? I haven't had a crush in awhile, but I just told J. that Ozwald Boateng is my new one. He is fine. And he designs some bad-ass men's clothes. Throw in a gorgeous wife and beautiful kids. Quite the life. Now all he wants to do is conquer America (beyond the celebrities he already dresses).
